Frequently asked questions
How to measure the pleated curtains?
For pleated curtains, we recommend selecting a curtain width that is 1x the length of your curtain rod or track, with the length measured from the eyelet ring where the curtain hooks attach. Discover comprehensive curtain measurement guide here to ensure a perfect fit for your space.
How to understand the width of pleated curtains?
When choosing pleated curtains, the panel width refers to the pre-set width where pleats are already crafted, offering a tailored look with 2X to 2.3X fabric fullness for stunning pleats and folds.
Recommended Fullness Ratios:
- 2x Fullness: Ideal for pinch pleat, tailor pleat, inverted pleat, and goblet pleat styles, ensuring elegant draping.
- 2.3x Fullness: Perfect for triple pleat and triple tailor pleat styles, enhancing depth and luxurious folds.
Measuring Panel Width: The panel width is measured from the left pleat end to the right pleat end, rather than from the left curtain side hem to the right curtain side hem, for accurate fitting. Explore our detailed curtain measuring guide for expert tips on achieving the perfect pleated curtain installation.
How to determine length for pleated style drapery?
Measure the length from the eyelet on the ring to the floor.
How Much Fullness Should I Choose for Pleated Header Curtain Styles?
For curtains with permanently sewn pleats, we craft them with a fullness of 200-230% to ensure a luxurious, tailored look.
For instance, if your curtain rod or track measures 100 inches, consider ordering 2 panels, each 50 inches wide, ideal for pinch pleated or tailor pleated header styles. Prefer extra fullness? Opt for wider panels to enhance the drape and elegance of your space.
What is stacking width?
Curtain stack width is the space your curtains occupy when fully drawn open to one side of your window or doorway, ensuring a sleek and functional look.
LuxDrape curtain stack width varies depending on fabric type and header style, typically ranging from 20-30% of your ordered width. Unlock the perfect fit with our expert curtain stack width calculator to enhance your home’s elegance!
Should I purchase hooks for the pleated style?
Orders come with different hooks:
Adjustable pin hooks are included for pinch pleat, tailor pleat, triple pleat, triple tailor pleat;
Metal pin hooks are included for goblet pleat, inverted box pleat;
Plastic adjustable pin hooks allow you to adjust curtain length within 3 inches. You still need to purchase rod rings separately.
How Many Pleats Should Pleated Curtains Have?
Discover the perfect pleat pin hook quantities for pleated curtains based on width:
9 pleats for a 50" width
13 pleats for a 72" width
16 pleats for an 84" width
19 pleats for a 100" width
21 pleats for a 110" width
23 pleats for a 120" width
29 pleats for a 150" width
Note that pleat width and spacing may slightly vary depending on your track or pole length for a custom fit.
What size is needed to be sewn with double width?
For pleated header styles, like pinch pleat, tailor pleat, inverted pleated box, goblet, and tape pleat, if the curtain finished length is over 108 inches, then the max finished curtain width without seam is 56 inches; if the curtain length is less than 108 inches, no seam for any curtain finished width. Otherwise, the width needs to be double-wide with a vertical seam.
For pleated header styles, like triple pleat and triple tailor pleat, if the curtain finished length is over 108 inches, then the max finished curtain width without seam is 50 inches; if the curtain length is less than 108 inches, no seam for any curtain finished width. Otherwise, the width needs to be double-wide with a vertical seam.
What is the maximum curtain size for Memory Training?
160 inches Width; 246 inches Length. Curtains exceeding the maximum size cannot be memory-shaped.
Is memory shaping (shapelock) suitable for all headers?
Header styles do not support Shapelock Tech include inverted box pleated, rod pocket, grommet, back tape, flat hooks, 4 in 1, and ripple fold. Since those styles are designed to create and maintain their intended appearance through their construction and method of attachment, memory training is redundant.
Is it necessary to shape the curtains
Shapelock is an essential technique designed to give your curtains the ability to hold their shape and pleats neatly.
How long will the curtains hold their form after body memory shape is trained?
